I am the proud owner of a 1990 cabbie gti unfinished project.
Bodily it is imaculate above and below. There is a garage dent on the front ein and rear corner and the bumpers need tidying.
It has not been on the road since 2008, it sounds like an engine fault.
It has an unfinished 16v conversion, which now runs (some wiring and am new distributor), but needs a new coolant pipe on the engine as it has rotted through.
The front to rear fuel pipes have gone too, so they are on order.
I have started work on the brakes and fitted a 9" servo and 22mm master cylinder. I've been looking into 256mm brake upgrades as I like ther 14" La Castelettes I have on the car.
I have found and fixed a few wiring faults, so with the above, a headlight upgrade and an mot we should be good for some summer motoring.
Meanwhile I am reading through old posts with broken photobucket links (wa****s) trying to piece together the information I need.
Thanks for reading
Steve

The wheels have already been changed to Le Caselletes, the twin headlamp grill is back on too.
The interior has been done, but the front bolsters are a bit flat, so that's on the to do list.
The servo has now been changed to a 9" with 22mm master and a remote reservoir so the old dibby cap can go back on.
I have also moved the fuel filter into the bulkhead, behind the headlight didn't work for me!

Looks like a solid start and just in need of finishing which as we all know is the hardest bit lol
So you said you have returned to the twin headlight grill are you going for a factory look with a 16v under the bonnet or are you going to be modding the body as well.
Anyway keep us fed with pics and info and we’ll be there to help if we can.

I'll stick to factory look with some light mods to improve driveability like engine and uprated brakes. Maybe pas depending on how heavy it really is.

I plan it to keep it stock on the outside with light mods to make it more driveable, brakes, engine and possibly epas depending (I have it on the camper, but that's a very different drive).

all tend to have cracks or screw holes damaged now so a bit of glue helps. 😉
