Good day all,
I am a long time lurker from Western Canada and no stranger to Mk1’s & Mk2’s. I had to join this site after witnessing so many threads involving the rich history and preservation of early watercooled Volkswagens… Anyway, I’ve lurked long enough to know pictures are in order and preferred over a lengthy introduction.
Here is a picture (sans editing) of my 1977 Rabbit Deluxe (10/76 build date) with original Baligrun (L62A) paint. I purchased the vehicle from the son of the original owner (1977 warranty booklet confirms this).

Plans are (cue drum roll…) pure restoration. No crazy stance. No stretched tyres. No rear disc brakes. No track time… Just pure unadulterated Series 1 goodness with an emphasis on NOS & OEM parts. I can’t help myself, I find too much joy in the hunt of part numbers and tracking down obsolete items. I do realize some things were switched on this car prior to my taking ownership.
It will be a long process, but I have nothing but time.

Anyways, I have blabbed on enough.

Welcome along mucker,

Me likey the idea of preservation and restoration.

I'd just say possibly don't go too far. Personally I like to see the age on a car. Shows it's history.

Just a thought.

Loving it

Thanks all!

Kevin; it is a completely stock car for the North American market, with the exception of a few things that should not  affect what you are after. I know you requested a PM, but I will probably just use this thread to post up the material for anybody else who may be interested… besides, who doesn't like pictures?!

"Full OEM US" threw me for a bit of a loop… Are you in search of Westmoreland specs by chance? Since the car was built prior to '79, it does not have any of the Westmoreland, PA tidbits, but I do have a few items in my horde if you require part numbers/photos. Example of the VIN plate between the two factories:

Pre-'79:

Westmoreland:

(not my pictures, not my VINs).

The vin plate at the b pillar is still what I need..  does  it possible to get all measurements of these? Does a Vin fix at the dash board?

Is it possible to get a Vin sticker new in the us if i still give you the us Vin straight?

Alright Kevin,

Here's what I've got:

B-Pillar VIN Plate (and every other B-Pillar decal from factory):
DSC_0324.jpg

Dimensions: 13.34cm x 3.81cm
As you can hopefully see, the VIN plate is placed right where the pillar curves out from the door striker.

On to the side markers…
OEM Part Number(s): 321945051/051A (Amber-Front),
321945061/061A (Red-Rear), 321945139 (Bulb holder).
DSC_0340.JPG
DSC_0346.JPG
Dimensions:
From the front of the vehicle towards the rear, from the center of the headlight ring to the center of the first screw: 11.43cm.
From the center of the fist screw to the center of the last: 7.62cm.

Both screw holes are 7cm from the top of the side trim.

The center of the hole for the bulb is 3.81cm from the first hole…

I sure hope that makes sense…

There is a small VIN plate on the dash exactly like this one I found from Google (I forgot to take a pic of mine…) IMG_2799_zps480f2c5b.jpg

The rear measurements I still have. (The red SML)
The 3rd VIN is life side at the enginebay right?
And do you know if your vw dealer can rebuilt the Vin decal if I sent you my Vin number via PM?

Big thanks for all your help..

Reg Kevin

No problem Kevin,
You have got it right about the third VIN location (left side strut tower). Next time I am in the dealership I will ask around about replacement plates.

Welp,

This gem was tucked away right where it should have been… (small victory)

Any guru's out there who may be able to offer up a serving suggestion of the codes/meanings of: 224, 276, 308? Those seem to be the only ones I cannot find…

Thanks for the link, such a useful site… unfortunately, the three in question are not listed.

Regardless, new information to geek over is always much appreciated!
