Which Blaupunkt

So I take delivery of my first cassette for about 30 years only to find it won't play in tha  Panasonic tape player.

I think it's a good chance to try and find the original one for my MK1 Golf GTI campaign 😊

If anyone can tell me which model Blaupunkt or post a link for one for sale that would be fantastic.

there's a few sort of period ones on ebay, as the cars weren't fitted with stere as standard there wont be a 'correct' one ;

That's just it they didn't.

They got fitted with whatever the original purchaser could afford, either by the the supplying dealer or the many after market workshops. Nothing was fitted as standard by the factory, by '83 the basic wiring (and ariel?) was fitted but no speakers or headunit.

Looking at period mags and they have loads of adverts from manufacturers (Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Trio/Kenwood, Blaupunkt etc) and in car entertainment dealers.  Back then  you could spend  few hundred on what is now a basic 2 speaker stereo cassette, with inflation would be @£1000++ !!!

I've fitted a nice looking Blaupunkt and 4 speaker in my GTI

I've got a Blaupunkt Augsburg in my cab, it was fitted by the previous owner as from new it didnt have one fitted at all

(and thats bearing in mind its an all black edition, which cost more than a £1000 over the price of a regular GTI cab)

But it did have an aerial and 4 speakers???

Allegedly the blaupunkt Augsburg was the most "up to date" headunit back in 1985

This blaupunkt hamburg would have been dealer fit back in 83,
This particular one is faulty but I'll get it repaired and put it in the 83 gti once it's been restored.
Even has a lead with jack plug in the back that would have originally plugged into a Walkman but will work with my phone 👍

My Campaign was fiited with the same Blaupunkt Hamburg as above by the dealer and in fact it's still in the car with the original instruction booklet.
