MK2 Polo running help

Post

Sorry if this is against the code posting about a mk2 polo but this forum seems to have a big following and a lot of people in the know.

I have just got a 1987 Polo 1.0. I has been parked up for 9 years. Was a good runner before being parked up. When I got it I drained out all of the old fuel, air blasted through the fuel lines, took off the carb (Pierburg 1b) and cleaned it, put fresh priemium fuel in and petrol magic addictive.

The car now starts and I can drive it but it will not idle. When slowing down to stop it will cut out.  I have to keep my foot lightly on the throttle and it will run ok, a little lump. What else can I do? Cheers

The carb probably has had the fuel that was in it evaporate and leave behind emulsifiers, try stripping it and cleaning the idle jets.

Welcome along btw

Thanks. I did take the carb apart to clean and cleaned the jets. Still the same.
