All types VW show - HELP!

I'm seriously wanting to go to this show in May but need some advice if anyone can help…I'm pretty new to the VW scene as regards things like shows.  I'd like to know the definition of 'Rat look' and 'Retro'.
I know vaguely what each means but not really enough to be confident about it. Is 'retro' just original and typical of the time the car was made (i.e - a mk1 golf would be 80's with things like chrome on the handles and the 'less is more' look?)
I'm not sure about 'Rat look' either, is that extra-old stuff like 70's campervans?  :dontknow:

Thanks for any help, hopefully I'll learn a lot more once I've been to the show! We've all gotta start somewhere!

I will leave the explanations to someone else!!

I went last year to this meet and it was really good. There was a wide spread of motors to look at, the day was red hot and the seaside wasn't too far!!
Go and have a look and sus out the styles for yourself….you'll soon pick it up!!

Cheers mate, I'm looking forward to it and others on the site have helped me out with the definition in the 'chat' room. I'm going through from North Yorkshire (about 3 1/2 hrs away!) on the Saturday to camp overnight and there's a coach trip that eve to the coast, should be great. Then the show on Sunday…definitely plucked up the courage to show my mk1 in the Retro display…it deserves it! Seems like the only show that allows some non-show cars & non-sporty models. I'll take some pics and wack 'em on the site!  8)

Reminder for anyone thinking of going. My first time there and looks like a nice setting for dubs and a family day out.
