Bodelwyddan castle photos (lots be warned!)

Big thanks to walt for the pics!

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday :D

Bodelwyddan castle!

Cheers Kins old buddy old GERB..OOps sorry! Believe it or not the green mk3 won it?? Anyhow I know this is a mk1 site but it shows what kind of event it is for those who may fancy going next time!! There were quite a few auto jumble stalls but not as many as Dubfreeze. Loads of cars in the show and shine, I would say in excess of 100! Dubboy's mk1 (the off white one) was very impressive indeed! Chees Kins! :D

Great day out, great show. One for next year's calendar and I encourage more Mk1 presence for next year. A really laid back atmosphere and a spot on location with the castle and surroundings.

Well done to Walt and his glove on a Top 5 watercooled placing - it was great to see you and your mint Rivage. Thanks for the pics!

Also liked the red GLi cab pictured. Not often you see them in mint condition. Passed it on the M56 going home too.

Cheers

I want my engine bay to look like that, please tell me it was a replacement engine….!

Looks like a firm date for next year then…

Can somebody do a 'review' of the national events they think it is worth the Mk1 Owners Club attending?

Cheers,

Drew.

There was a feature in The Golf magazine about that car. It belongs to Darren Robinson and he did a nut & bolt rebuild on it. Very well executed and sweeps the board for prizes….bet he's not out in winter though….Like the "Hard Core Cabby Club"!!!

Snow, Ice, Hail, Rain….bring it on!!

Engine bay on sportline!

I saw this sportline arrive first thing in the morning, it was about 9am. At first glance it looked pretty good, he had the bra on the front and I noticed immediately the split rim BBS's.. The driver (Darren) had quite a confident smile on his face as he pulled up facing me! Once inside I went over to say hello and have a quick look at his car! It was then I realised just how serious this chap was about his car! That confident smile now seemed rather understated! This car is seriously good, in fact better than seriously good..So good in fact that I can safely say that even though I am going to have to improve my engine bay, I will never ever even try to compete with this chap! It cannot get any better than this! Believe me..This just looks better and better the more you look at it! I should have taken more photo's of it!! Darren if you read this, please get in touch, I need the measurements for the decals!! Cheers…Walt!

Any ideas on the cost involved?

I think it is going to depends on how much you do oneself and if you get your parts from VW or GSF.

I think for a Mk1 if you contract all the work out, a full respray in 2pack and replace every part with VW or nearest equivalent you are going to be looking at over ?20k
