Steffan Alloys!

Hi All

I new to this site so firstly i'l introduce myself, i have my first mk1 1983 16V GTI, have preivously had 4 mk2's and still have my rallye.

It fairly standard except for a few stuble engine mods and oh its purple

Just one quick question, will Steffan Cup 14 9x14 ET20 fit on a mk1 without any Modifying?

Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!   :)

9x14 ET20

I seriously doubt it!!!!!!

7x15 ET25's stick out far enough to catch both front and rear arches if low enough, so with a 5mm reduced offset resulting in over an inch more protrusion on the outside of the rim, I don't think you have a hope in hell!!!!!

Rear arches will need rolling and probably flaring quite a bit. front arches will need the same treatment I'd imagine.

You'd probably get away with it if you go for the 4x4 look… :|

i had 7 x15s on mine with an et of 28 lowered 30mm and only ever used to catch on deep dips in the road or when people where in the back! :o

I had 8x14 et 25 and they never caught a thing on standard arches! I was lowered on coilovers too. 7x15 et 24 caused me much more hassle than the 14's ever did. Fit 195-45-14 or 185-50-14 tyres and you wont have a problem. With 9x14s you will probably have to fit wider tyres though. Talk to Styledynamix. They are used to fitting ultra wide wheels and tyre stretching on various VW's. I wouldn't go wider than 8's on the front though.

Cheers,
Have fitted them got 225/35R/14 on rear with and 195/45R/14 on the front. Never had a problem, only thing is reverse parking now leaves alot to the imagine.
