You need to get a scirroco 16v inlet manifold so you can leave the air box in the original place.

Quite expensive to get hold of but make life a lot easier!!!

I also have one for sale

As to drive shafts, i dont know why you need cabby ones but you do, i think its because the cabbys used more mk2 parts??

Mounting the airbox on the right is easy. All you need to do is cut a slot in the base, and it will sit quite happily on the chassis leg. The inlet ducting and fuel pipes holds it in place. So you don't need the Scirocco manifold, but of course if you want to keep the airbox on the left you can do.

You'd need to relocated the fuel lines to the other side of the car, which isn't a big issue but you need to disconnect the steering to be able to do this. Also the fuel filter will be at the front, some people have relocated this to a safer place.

Driveshafts - "GTI ones are too long" - which model of GTI????? Which cabby??? etc

Firstly, which gearbox are you using? This will determine which flanges it has on originally. You can swap the flanges (if you need to, eg from 100mm to 90mm) and retain your original driveshafts. Or you could use a gearbox with 100mm flanges and use late cabby driveshafts. There's around 16 variations over the years of cabby driveshafts, so its not as simple as giving a year which they "switched" - they gradually switched across different models, over 1986-1989, or so. Also late Scirocco ones will fit.

Personally I'd keep the same gearbox and driveshafts and avoid all the above hassles!
