How to lower?

Hey - just trying to sort out the best way to lower my car. It's a Citi golf 1.3 so would i need the mk2 or mk1 kit?

Next dillema is whether to go with coilovers (expensive) or lowering kit with shocks and springs for about £150? I've been advised not to just get springs as i'll kill my shocks. Also been told that nice shocks and springs are far better than cheapo coilies… any thoughts?
I'm going to go about 60mm front and 40 back in terms of the drop so not massive i just want to fill out the arches a little with my 15" ats cups.

Thanks in advance guys!

Hiya mate, I'd say maybe damper + springs setup if you're defo sure you're gonna be happy sticking with that set drop/stance?

And excuse me if i'm wrong, but I thought you were having to sell the citi?

I'm glad to see you're not now!

Hi there!
Ahhh yes - first with the selling thing… mmm I was but i'm going to try really hard now to keep hold of it, it's just so much fun to drive it!

Sorry for my ignorance but what is a damper + spring set up? Could you possibly link me to some for sale including everything i would need?
Also, is it alot/hard work to fit new springs and shocks? I'm pretty useless mechanically but i'd give it a shot… Cheers!

Hiya pal.

Really happy to hear that you're gonna try and keep it!

You'd hate yourself if you ended up getting rid of it!

I know I would! I love driving mine too tbh and she just makes me smile. Even when she's broken down at the moment like she is haha!

Damper and spring setup is basically a sports suspension setup. It's essentially what you were after (shock and spring) Damper = shocker :D

http://www.venommotorsport.com/shop_category.php?category=suspension

Take a look around the venom website to get a rough idea on prices and setups available.

In terms of recommending a decent brand to go with, I wouldn't know as I've gone straight for a set of coilovers =]

All you'll need in order to change your suspension is the new suspension, and you could also replace your front top-mounts at the same time. They're basically the top holding bits for your suspension and also tie in as the bushes for bump absorpsion etc.

You can get a new set of top-mounts from most motor spares places.

GSF do them I believe?

It's not a massive job really, just give yourself a decent bit of time one day, a set of spanners/sockets and it's 3 bolts on each of the front suspension units I think and two on each of the back if I remember rightly?

Hope this helps!

Hi, I just lowered my Cabby with a set of Rokker coilovers - They are the cheap type like hottunings etc,
At first I was disapointed because they were to bouncy or at the other end of the scale to hard.
Once I had found the happy medium not to low and settled for drivabiltiy I am very happy with them - but this is just my experience.  Good luck on your choice

Today is a good day to die, but tomorrow would be more convenient

Don't mention it dude.

Not really, just be patient when doing the swap in terms of undoing bolts n that.

I wouldn't know whether it's mk1 or mk2 setup on your citi sorry! :D

Dont forget you will need to make sure that your rims and rubber are going to fit after the drop...
