Here's mine, she's an 83 with 68,000 on the clock.
No plans for modification other than restore to as original as possible.
(She's lowered -40mm but that doesn't count, right?  )
The p-slots are going, and will be replaced with steels once I've sorted them out.
She's going in for a re-spray in about a month (in the original colour) as the lacquer's peeling on bonnet and boot.

VW only imported 1500 to the uk, 500 of which where sunroof models, the papyrus green was only offered on the GX.
the continent also got the GX in 2 door guise.
they are effectively the non GTI campaign being the final year model with the intention of selling of before the mk2 came out, because of this they are relatively rare.
a few things to note are the grey bumbers and wheel arch spats that tend to get painted black by mistake.  The quad lamp grill with driving lamps not spot lamps and the seats are retrimmed GTI seats with the tilt handle removed (means you can put your seats down in the front if you lift the locks manually).

mine.

I just imported a 1984 GX from Holland.  It's a 3-door with no sunroof in my favourite colour.  About 125,000 miles.  I was attracted to this one because it was advertised as 95% original paint, and the impossible-to-find interior parts are in nice condition.  There's a bit of aerosol paint here and there, and some of the paint is eroded by bird's poo.  The experts at VW Mad UK say it has less corrosion than most Mk1's.

At the moment the dutch car dealer still has it on his website at https://www.top360.nl/occasions/detail/?url=volkswagen-golf-1-5-gx-95-1e-lak-nederlandse-auto-lage-kmstand.html
