Is there even such a thing as show car insurance?

Prices are going to be based on several factors like age, location, where its kept ect.

Just keep phoning round and getting quotes.

Someone might get a good deal with X company but that dont mean you will.

A lot of people reccomend Footman James but I found them very expensive for example.

As per bubbles… if you can i.e. you qualify for it, classic insurance is definately the way forward have you tried footman james? they've been easily the cheapest for me. For info, NCB does not count on their classic policies. Also I do not think that there's such a thing as show car insurance, it's agreed value isn't it?  :dontknow:

My renewal for my mk 1 G60 was up with Adrian Flux for £594 thats up from last year by £140 so I tried Peter Best, all mods declared, limited mileage, EU cover, no windscreen excess, agreed value, wife added to policy 8O  and all for £380. NCB does not count as its a standard rate for classic car insurance. I tried Footman James last time but they wouldnt touch heavily modded classics which is a shame.
Hope that helps.

NCB can only be applied to one insurance policy at a time. A lot of the classic car policies have a condition that it covers a second car, and that you have a main daily driver car too. Thus, any NCB you have can't be applied to the classic car because its on the main car.

TBH though its a load of balaerics, if you're a good driver then you build up the NCB, and you're still just as good (or bad) a driver in a second car as the main one. I think a lot of insurance companies appreciate this too, and will take the amount of NCB earned elsewhere when judging risk, and therefore the price. In any case, amount of NCB isn't that meaningful because you could have bought "protected NCB", had a few claims/crashes, and still appear to have loads of it. But then…….protected NCB is another con, its basically insurance on insurance!

I just gt my lowest quote today from heritage! £403 fully comp 3000 mile "limited" policy haha whic is less than half of what I'm payin on my polo daily for 3rd party (£1080) I
23, 2 year driving, 2 years NCB and a 100% non fault accident! Not bad but I thought it might be cheaper! They were sound about the modifications aswell!

Yep the insurance industry is full of crooks and scam merchants.

Just renewing my daily driver, had to up the milage and business use as I have a new job. £440. Shopped around on 'ternet and another company comes up £330. Phoned original company and they say 'ah thats one of our sister companies' and proceeded to match the £330.

So the same company quoted me for the same cover with the same dettils but one was quarter £ more expensive.

Shop around or they'll shaft you.
