Need an independent valuation from a car club official

Post

We've got the mk1,2 and corrado all on the same policy with Footman James… We've sent pictures and condition forms off and been asked to provide  "A signed Independent Valuation from either a car club official or specialist dealer due to vehicle age and increase from purchase price"

I presume the "vehicle age" bit relates to the 'rado as it's a '94. (though nothing on the letter they've sent actually says as much!)

The "Increase from purchase price" is based on current ebay prices and the fact that each of the cars now works properly, are in significantly better condition than when purchased and that the purchase prices were all a bit bargain-tastic!

So… who do I approach?

Cheers

Just had same request regarding Footman James from another member, looks like this will be cropping up more often?

When I contacted insurance companies last year bout it

All 4 companies said that it soon would be the case that you need a club valueation

So can the club offer valuations?

I was under the impression they wouldn't.

As vehicles need to be physically inspected to value them it would be difficult logistically and incur cost. Maybe a service to offer members only as a club benefit and also charge a small fee as good club revenue.

I looked into this whole valuation thing and the price guide a year ago

Vehicle would need to be inspected by a club official

Club would be liable if we over value cars

The club would need a team of people over the country to go out an visual inspect cars and then submit forms and photos to the head valuer

There would be a cost involved and would only be a member option

It's something being looked into but ias with everything that is insurance related its a nightmare of red tape

Also members getting annoyed the club value it less then they thinks its worth

I've offered to do fonzorroo as I know them well and I can throw a stone from my house and hit there's, they can be my guinea pigs to see if the insurance company with accept our forms

When my valuation was declined the underwriters for Footman James wanted either a club official or specialist dealer to verify.

I didn't think either existed so sent them adverts of similar cars, reduced the valuation slightly and gave them a bladdy good reason why I thought it was worth it!

Over in the Porsche club I know that they do valuations with photographs and technical descriptions, as long as they have enough good photos and see service history etc too then they don't physically see the car in the flesh.

Insurance companies seem ok with this so I don't know if there's a reason why we couldn't do the same? It would be a nice service to offer paid members.
