MK1 Golf GX as a First Car - 21 years old

Hi all,
I am looking at buying a MK1 Golf GX 1.5 as a first car but before i get one i would like to know roughly how much insurance is going to cost.
I am 20 years at the moment but the golf i am looking at is going to need some work doing to it and by the time i have finished i should be 21.
I passed my driving test last year and this would be my first car.
Does anyone who is 21 have a classic car policy and how much does this cost?

Best to go on compare the meercat or similar

Apart from Direct Line (who are worth a shout) most insurance companies will get listed so you'll get a fair idea

If you become a paid member here you will get discount with a number of companies but these tend to be classic policies and I'm not sure if you have to be over 25 to have one of these?

this is the problem that i now have.

i insured with admiral, cheapest i could find with mods declared, but looking at some classic car policies you need to be over 25, held a license for 5 years with 3 no claims, and some other weird conditions.

all i want would be a anti-scrapage thing, were they wont scrap the car if i get a little bump

I am with Lancaster insurance it costs me 400 a year fully comp on a classic policy for my 1.1 I only had 2 years no claims when I got the policy because I wrote a car off a few years ago and had a 16k claim aginst me :redfaced: but they still insured me. might be worth giving them ago.

No mate just gone 26 but i thought they are worth a try had a few places putting the price up because of the claim against me they was the cheapest by a long shot for me. Forgot to mention i got an agreed evaluation on the car too for an extra 40 a year.

Ah ok, i will try and get classic car insurance sorted for it when i get mine up and running.
Just wondering where abouts in West yorkshire are you as i am in Halifax?

I live in Ossett not far from Wakefield.
