Classic policy and i'm 22
I have tried to insure my Clipper cabby on a classic policy, but they have told me I am too young. Does anyone know if there is a way round it? i'm 22 and work as a sales rep, so hardly a stunt driver to insure I can get a normal policy for a grand but hoping to get it cheaper.
Should be out on a day like today
any help appreciated
cheers

How many miles/year did you imagine doing in the Mk1 Golf, or were happy to be restricted to by an insurance policy?

You are more than welcome to give us a try for a quotation if you like. We have classic car policies that cater for drivers under the age of 25.

Dan.

Do not use Adrian Flux, I am with them at the moment and they are a nightmare. Look at the reviews!!!!!!!! I am trying to cancel with them at the moment.
Hiya,
Please feel free to pm me your policy number and a contact telephone number, so I can look into this for you.
Thanks
Dan

I am not sure if they will insure under 25's.
Classic policies tend to expect you to have acsess to another vehicle, limited mileage etc, so it's meeting the criteria again re the alarm.
Can you at least put a picture up of the fob?
I understand what Al is saying as if you don't give them the proper details it will affect your insurance as the proposal/agreement of insurance is based on the answers you give to their questions.
So answer wrong etc in the event of a calim they could wash their hands of you.
I am not sure what else you can do to get info on your alarm oher than you have done.
Worth a call though, they have been much cheaper than Adrian Flux, Footman James and Premium Choice for me.
IIRC my Premium went up by 30% with AF with my cabby.
The strange thing is I am insured with AF with my other car and they only become cheaper after I have spent hours looking online for other quotes. They never offer me the best deal straight away.
I then have to call back and ask if they can match. They do beat the other quotes marginally, so I have stayed with them for that policy, but it's hard work.
AF were good when I had my bump though no messing about there in dealing with the claim, although the car went back to the body shop twice as it came back with more damage.
Did any one see Don't get done get Dom on BBC1 yesterday?
One of the Key arguments was that when renewing a Policy the company has a care of duty to get the best quote for you.
It turned out that, the particular company featured only quotes you with the current insurer you are with and not whole of market.
Subsequently this only saw an upward increase in the premiums.
When I was insured through a high street broker Colonade as was, they sent me a double quote, one for the current insurer and one from the new whole of market search they did. Which I would say was 9 out of 10 times cheaper.
Some insurance companies will offer better deals to new customer as opposed to existing clients.
So customer loyalty is not really a reason to stay with your insurer.
Phone around use the web, save your money, but make sure you have like for like quotes.
Have a check list and tick off what's covered and what it will cost extra to add to the ploicy. I.E. if you want legal cover etc.
As a final note pay your insurance in full if you can, most companies operate a credit agreement for monthly installments which may cost more than a one off payment. So factor in the interest costs as part of the whole premium.
The credit agreement gives you a 14 day cooling off period, if you miss that deadline the company will start to take the installments. If you then realise afterwards and dissagree with what the new premuiums are it's a bit late.
If you then cancel your direct debit etc they can refer the matter to a debt collection agency and such actions will have an impact on your credit rating.
Set a reminder for your insurance renewall in advance, and be aware if you have a reminder from the insurance company with the new premium remember, most renewals state that they will take the propsed premium amount from your account on such and such date. If you don't inform them to refuse permission to allow them to take a payment, they can take the money from your account, so make sure your on the ball and happy with what your getting.
It would be interesting to have a thread with headers starting with Adrian Flux. Premium choice and Footmans.
Then add details like age, sex, claims, years driving etc and see what people are getting form the insurers listed.
