I am just wondering if anybody has had experience or knows if it is realistic to have a mk1 as your first car when you are 17/18 (insurance wise).

Get some quotes on small engined mk1's, unless your minted I'd steer clear of Gti's.

It is do able theres a few youngs on with insurance but it is expensive

Costs £1700 on insurance, which is better than most people I've spoken to with 1.3 Corsas etc.
