This was in the August 2015 issue about the mk1 gti. Not sure what the rules are on sharing this info but thought I would be helpful.

Nice write up but I don't agree with a lot they have said?
1. Cam belt and tensioner every 35,000 miles.
2. New Spark plugs every 10,000 miles.
3. Gearbox oil every 2 years.
4. Engine oil 15W50
5. Service intervals every 3,000 miles (far to often in my daily drive as I do approx 12,000 miles a year so a full service 4 times a year!)

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.
