Electrical issue

Hello Boys and Girls,

After a little to long hiding in the garage I have started to get my 81 GTI back on the road unfortunately I seem to have melted the female terminal on the white plug that feeds the fuel pump. does anyone know what these strange tube like crimps are called and what size I might need?

Thanks Matt

these are called multimate, type 3 is what you get these days. but dont bother, its too small to supply enough current to the fuel pump and engien electrics hence why it has now melted.

VW had a retrofit kit back in the day to relocate the pump relay above the fusebox to fix this issue, it had a jumper that popped into the front of the socket to take the ignition live, earth and rev coutner feeds but you can tap these direct to the engien loom if you prefer.

Have a word with Mark Carter on classic-vw.co.uk, I think he had some of the kits in stock
