Wings - advice please

Post

Morning all,
One my wings is a little rusty and although salvageable it may make better sense to replace it.
Should I save up and go with the VW wings on sale at Heritage or are there any high quality reproduction wings that are up to muster?

Any advice would be really appreciated!

If its an original wing, and reasonably salvageable surely that makes sense, but its whatever makes you happiest..

Although it's a Mk2 Golf I have the same problem. I'd rather leave the wing on (they're a pain to get off) and I have a  replacement wing (Hadrian) that I'd rather cut up. It's not too bad as I can lose the welding line just below the bumper. OE is always going to be better than a reproduction. You could if its possible always make patch repairs.

I've mulled it over and come up with a plan. I have two OEM wings from a cab  that have the side indicator holes and bumper clip hole that are in brilliant condition. As I have tintops these need to be modified. I'm going to weld some steel from a spare cab door I have no use for and plug the holes. Hopefully if all goes well I should end up with two really tidy wings that aren't going to cost me £290 per corner.
