Weber dmtl carburettor

Pump housing lever gone walk about!

Hi all

ive been having terrible cold starting problems with my 89 clipper, I pretty much had to spray carb cleaner in the top of the carb to get it started, but then it runs perfectly.

turns out the accelerator pump housing has lost its lever so it doesn't work on cold starts. It doesn’t seem available as a spare from webcon frustratingly.

has any got a spare Weber 32/34 dmtl that isn’t been used? I could do with the pump housing with lever or just the lever would also work. If anyone has one that I could beg, borrow or steal I’d very much appreciate it. See the pic to see what I need.

cheers chaps. image.jpg

Hi, yes have had a look but can’t see the part I need, it seems like this is a very rare issue, I can’t find any info on here or the net.
thanks for the shout.

There doesn’t seem to be anyone with one of these for sale unfortunately, so, would any very kind person be willing to take a photo of the lever and add dimensions so I could make one myself, just a thought.

Hi Stuart

sorry for the delay in replying, I’ve just got home from a week away. If you don’t mind digging out the arm I’d very much appreciate it, I live down in Sheffield so posting would be best as never have any free time at the mo, 3 month old to blame there.

I can’t believe you can’t just buy the lever and housing for the dmtl as it exists as a spare for most of Webber’s other carbs.

let me know what you think

cheers

dave

I'm pretty sure you can buy that part.

The part number is "32486.070" and I'm also pretty sure that fastroadcars will help you find it. It's an amazing carburettor store and has an awesome customer support. I'm in Portugal and have bought many stuff from them. Including a carburettor just like yours.

You can literally build a full Weber carb just with the part numbers.

Yeah you would think so for sure, I’ve had that part number for a while now but can’t find anyone who supplies it, also webcon told me that it doesn’t exist on there spare parts list. It’s very frustrating as I’ve only had the Weber a couple of years and bought it brand new.

thanks for the message though and I’ll keep looking as I can’t justify buying a new carb just for one part.

cheers

That's so strange…

I'll ask a few stores too.

But if you don't mind me asking, how did you manage to lose that part? Did it broke?

Since I have a similar carburettor, and since you still have the cover but you're only missing the lever arm, I could try to measure that lever and you, or someone, could try to replicate it with some piece of metal. I just need to spend some time around my carb to uninstall that part and i'll let you know.

Best regards

It is very strange as the pump housing, as they call it it available for some other webers but not the dmtl.

a little while ago I was having difficulty in starting the car from cold, on one occasion it was so bad I resorted to removing the air filter and squirting carb cleaner down the port where the accelerator pump squirts fuel in, it was while doing this I noticed the lever was missing, I can only assume the split pin came loose and dropped out somewhere while driving.

ive been on the lookout for a cheap carb to take the part off but no luck so far, funnily enough I’ve pretty much convinced myself to make one, with dims it would be pretty straightforward I think.

if you could supply any dims with pics that would certainly help a lot, also I’ve emailed fastroadcar to see if they can help.

thanks again for getting in touch

cheers, Dave

Hi davearnill

Just passing by to tell you that I'm not forgotten about measuring the part. I just did this afternoon and wrote it all down.

I had a son last weekend so i've been very busy 😅

But I plan to leave you the info tonight

Hi, congratulations on your new son, I have a 3 month old so know all to well how busy you are right now.

fast road cars came through for me in the end, a chap called Anthony got in touch and managed to strip one off a spare carb, it’s a new part and cost less the £30 with shipping, it arrived today so I’ll finally be back on the road by the weekend.

Thanks again for getting in touch and recommending the supplier and hope all goes well with the new arrival

all the best

Dave.

Oh!

That's great news. I'm happy you managed to get that solved. I also had sent a message to them, but my answer was negative. Glad that everything worked out in the end.

Yes, thank you. This is my second son. I have a 4 years old daughter too. You know what they say: the first 45 years are the worst, then it starts to get easier… 😁

Best regards,

Manuel
