Washer tube non-return valve/washer pump upgrade

I see on the parts list a non return valve in the tailgate washer pipe?? Is this normally fitted?? I haven’t got one …..Is is worth fitting to the front washers as well??Secondly has anyone upgraded their windscreen washer pumps - I remember someone saying they had fitted a more powerful pump…..
