Putting a mk1 inlet manifold onto a mk2 engine.

Hello, this is my first post on the club website and I am not entirely sure I am in the right place but I am looking for some advice.

I have a mk1 golf with  mk2 engine in it. It is a 1.8 gti 8v. Problem is the inlet manifold intake points the opposite way on the mk2. This makes the air box a squeeze and so the previous owner hacked the air box up to make it fit.

I have a spare inlet manifold from a mk1 golf 1.8gti. Is it possible to just bolt the mk1 manifold straight on to the mk2 engine head?

If this is a silly question I apologise in advance. Any advice is appreciated.

I have got a Mk2 head on a 1.8 MK1 and the original Mk1 manifold is fitted to it. It's also got the air shrouded injectors, I used the Mk2 rubber dome with the take off on it and ran a pipe from that to the head, it works fine.
