Hi my name is Gavin and I have recently brought myself an 83 GTI project, ive replaced the fuel pump , fuel filter, accumaltor hoses (both) , the accumulator itself, fuse box and relays (not sure if it should have a hot start pulse relay as in pictures it says it does but I cant find a part number??), coil pack, new fuel, injector cleaner but NOTHING seems to be working :(. once it is running it is fine but it will not restart until it has cooled down. PLEASE HELP any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

check the non return valve in the pump it can stick open and let fuel flow back into the tank
check you have fuel at injectors
check  check check before spending cash

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

need to investigate why the fuel pump is on constant as well. pull the relay out and see if it stops. If it does, check the relay number on the front and part number on the side, make sure its a kjet fuel relay and not a random switched type.

if it doesnt stop, then you have a short to ignition feed on the fuel power rail somewhere.

drop the fusebox and look for the red/yellow and red/white wires on the black plug E for the rear harness, theres a spade on the red/white, this should have a matching red/white on the engine loom plugged into it. if it has some other colour in there then its probably the wrong one.

look at the WUR and AAV wiring as well, make sure there is no wire damage anywhere allowing the red/white wire to short to an ignition feed somewhere
