Currently running on Gsxr600 bike cabs which need tuning as running very rich. Anybody fitted these who is able to help or know of anywhere to take them as also have a problem with fan not working when driving. I have tested it for continuity by running a feed to the fan and the fan works fine however not sure what the problem is. If anyone knows what these two switches are on the side of the head that would be great thanks. Located in Solihull Birmingham but willing to travel.

1.4 engine is out of a mk3 golf (ABD)
Thanks

2 switches on the head are oil pressure, you should have yellow and blue/black wires to go on them. some only have the 1 switch so dont worry if one of the wires is missing. the yellow goes to the blue switch, blue/black to white

with the fan unplug the thermoswitch on the radiator and jump the 2 pins together with wire, if the fan runs then you know all the wiring is good, check the thermoswitch.

the radiator fan should only cut in when temps get to about 3/4 on the gauge tho

Hi, well on a long journey you can feel the car is overheating so I know the fan is not working when it should, I have changed the thermoswitch from the rad to still no joy. Just wondering what other sensors or switch needs to be looked at/changed

I assume that your heater is working - you'd be needing it in this weather…

by 'long journey' what do you mean? If you mean a long time at say motorway speed, then I'm surprised that the fans are needed - air flow (particularly the cold air we have at present :) ) should be enough to keep things cool unless stuck in traffic…

Yes heater works fine, just when stuck in traffic or if I've been driving for around town for 30 mins it's very hot after I open the bonnet and I know the fan is not working . Anyone know any specialists who may be able to help as I wasn't the one who carried out the engine conversion which makes it more difficult?

I know your overheating is the main issue here but you also mentioned where to get the carbs tuned.

I am running a 9a with GSXR600 carbs and had it tuned at Bogg Brothers (loads of people rave about them) They have done a great job and totally stripped the carbs, cleaned and rebuilt them. They then rolling roaded it and swapped the jets and it has made all the difference.

I'd highly recommend them but there are also loads of other guys out there, probably closer to you, who can do the job.

The GSXR carbs are very simple and easy to work on, Dave at Bogg Brothers showed me exactly how they work and how to maintain them.

Where abouts in the midlands are you?

Cheers
Joe

Hi, thanks for the recommendation I'll check them out! I'm based in Solihull, do you remember how much the rebuild and tune was?
Thanks

I couldn't believe how cheap it was.

It was booked in for 1pm and finished about 4pm. He said, how does £100 sound.. I was more than happy

try my test above, loop a wire between the wires on the radiator fan thermoswitch, its the fat brass thing screwed into the side of the rad. if the fan runs then its the thermoswitch, if not check over your wiring

Oh okay that is good for the price only problem is it's a bit far in Yorkshire for me, know of anywhere around the Midlands? Okay thanks I'll try that and I've just fitted a new thermoswitch from Vw heritage :)
