Caddy 5 speed gearbox identification hellllppp 😅

Post

Hey,
just finishing off restoring my mk1 caddy and it's got a 5 speed gearbox fitted (yay)
now from a lot of googling and the forum coming up a few times i thought i'd join :-)

now the gearbox works great but R 1 3 5 are comically far away from the driver (towards the dash) and hoping to either get or modify the linkage to have a shorter shift/ make it feel abit tighter
and i'm wondering how to identify which gearbox i've got and which linkages would work with my setup
are there any pictures i can take to help? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Lots of info on the 020 gearbox and how to identify yours as there should be a code on the gearbox underneath it.

020 GEAR RATIOS

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Buy a short shifter kit like Missinglinks.com Takes the slop out, then add a weighted billet and you have a move positive feel, and fifth gear isn't in the middle of your thigh.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?
