Steering wheel adaptor.

Is there a thing that just adapts a different steering wheel to work with the horn/indicator cancel? Spline is the same as it's VW, but there is no horn contact.

Maybe something like this, but without the huge depth?

What wheel are you trying to use? What's it off? Any photos?

It's from a mk3 Golf, so same spline size.

If anything, it needs to be closer to the dash. I was thinking I could use the shorter spline adapter for that.

I,m probably the wrong person to advise you as it's something I have not messed with. Surely that mk3 wheel should have a horn ring and it's missing? Won't your old ring transfer from the old wheel? I do know they come out.

Does your old one look anything like this?

Like I said I'm no expert, I am only guessing. I think you press the tabs around the black wire, the pry out carefully.

You were right; they do.

I found a beat up steering wheel on eBay and persuaded the seller to send me the horn ring and screws

Would I be right in thinking the steering wheel would sit 19mm (45-26) closer to the column with the shorter one?

The old one wouldn't fit the new wheel then? The adapters, well it's just a case of try it and see. The overall length might not matter. It's where the shoulder is in the adapter that determines where it sits. In other words both adapters may sit in exactly the same place.

The old was the same as the picture you posted. The wire for the new one goes through a different place and it looks as though there are three mounting screws. Will see when the other one gets here.

I haven't managed to get a my old adapter off yet. Does it have a stopping point inside, or is it the same all the way through? The short one is £25  

I think there is a stopping point inside(shoulder). That's why I said, if the shoulders are the same then even though it's shorter it may sit in the same position.
