stainless or standard????

Hi my 1984 cabby is about to undergo its transformation next weekend as it goes in for its full re-spray and was wondering if it is worth changing to a stainless exhaust. It has the standard one on now is it worth changing? i want an exhaust that will compliment the car !!!! not into boy racer type no offence. Thanks in advance.

I prefer stainless like most because it lasts so much longer and if you're careful you can get the sound you want.

I have a full one on my Mk6 that is from Bastuk Racing in Germany, the parts alone cost about £1,500 but that's the high end of the scale and it sounds just right. My wife drives the car and she doesn't even notice the difference but everyone else does.

Now my Mk1 has a bog standard one and I will change it for stainless when the time comes but I'm not going to replace a perfect exhaust system for no reason!

I have a stainless exhaust custom made on my Cabby.
It's no louder than stock, looks virtually the same but I know it will last a lot longer.
I only replaced mine as the original backbox was shot.

I got mine from longlife.co.uk because the existing system was knackered when I got the car. Looks like stock, very slight sporty sound. You can choose the sound and tailpipe to suit your taste.
