Speedo not working.

Post

The speedo worked okay before I swapped stuff around!

I now have MK2 dash and clocks fitted and the connection at that end (it's a hard plastic push on type) seems good, when I twist the gearbox end of the cable the speedo flicks about a bit, I'm happy with the connection at the gearbox which is a new to me 02J five speed.

Is it possible that the inner cable is too short with the above set up?

On some models there was a 2 part cable, one part from the tranny, to the o2 sensor counterbox, then from the counter box to the speedo.

The 90's used a one piece cable with a clip on end at the speedo.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

What cable are you using? 1.3?

Mk2 clocks… I used a 1.3 Mk2 Golf speedo cable with push type for the clocks and screw on for the box…. that was in a mk2. But same as your setup.

Not sure what the cable is, I haven't replaced it but it worked with the MK1 clocks.
Yeah it's the same as yours Roach, push fit at dash and screw at box so looking like a new cable complete then.
