Bosch plugs in both my cars and I've been using them for 10 years + with not problems (I've have changed them in the 10 years of using them :-) )

4 prog plug so no worries about gapping the plugs, fit and leave then I replace mine every 20,000 miles.
You will need to unscrew the cap if you have later HT leads with "saw tooth" connections.

On sale at Euro car parts, use code SALE56.  £13.85 for 4 plugs.

Just found them cheaper here.

I had a bad Bosch Plat 3 plug.  Bought 2 replacement sets, and each set had 1 and then the 2nd set of plug had 2 bad in the box of 4….. Made troubleshooting fun….

I use NGK BP6ET  Digifant II 2h actually they are amazingly different and feel like I installed a Turbo on my cars… :)

www.cabby-info.com has a listing of the plugs for various VW numbers.

Spark Plug Recommendations

I've always used NGK but have just bought some Bosch. Seeing as everything else in the ignition system is Bosch it seemed to make sense. I'm interested to see if there's any difference.

I've always been an NGK man, I don't rate Bosch stuff at all.

I've recently tho just changed out all my stuff for Beru, and the car runs lovely.

Just go with what you have confidence in whether NGK, Beru, Bosch or whatever.

Try a set and if you're not satisfied buy something else.
We not talking a large sum of money at the end of the day!  ;)

Worth replacing rotor arm, dissy cap and HT leads at the same time as well.

There should be a code on your spark plugs fitted to the car.

Just checked and currently have NGK BP7ES. Slightly different code than whats quoted above (BP6ET) - whats the difference/does it matter?

The bp6et worked very well in my Cabriolet, it loved them, but I also got 4 sets of the NGK iridium as they were priced wrong, at 2.20 each so I bought all they had.

Interesting Briano1234 ….
I wonder if a cooler plug (a 6 rather than 7) may be better as I've been researching and it seems hot plugs when running hot can causing misfires.
I think thats whats been happening to me, hence why i starting looking into possible causes: the car runs cold fine but after 1/2hr or so starts to misfire. I had it happen at the weekend after a 20 mile run so parked up for a couple of hours, had a drink to calm down ;)  and it did run better for a while but again when it got back up to temp starting to misfire  :( .
So maybe a cooler plug such as BP6ET could help? For less than £20 worth a try i guess…
(Although confusing i hear NGKs order their plugs in reverse order to other manufacturers).

I used the iridium version of the BP6et, after getting 2 sets of bad BOSCH triple plats in a row while trying to diagnose a misfire… Ended up being a bad spark wire.  Oh and one Bosch had 2 bad plugs, and well I stuck one of them in the bad wire, so I added 1 more bad thing on the car.  The second set had 1 bad plug.  I have since started to OHM out my plugs prior to installing them as well as my wires.

If my Daughter hadn't returned from work with my other cabby where I swapped cap and wires from one to the other, I would probably still be working on it to this day :)

I used to use only Champion Plugs after Champion rebuilt the Engine in my 72 rover 3500S.  (total rebuild). Because the ceramic part was badly crimped and injected in to my engine.  The second set that I got did the same thing on the other side.

But after getting a set of bosch triple plats to run for 75000 miles I switched to Bosch triple plats, until I got buggered.  NGK and my Cabbies seemed to get 10 HP more… or at least my SOP told me so.

It looks as though with NGK the lower number is hotter, with Champion and Bosch it's colder, brilliant.

Yeah helpful that isn’t it!
I’m guessing I’d want for example a BP7EIX rather than a BPR7EIX. I think R stands for resistor and seems to be for motorbikes?
