Side lights. no main beam

Hi all again. Did my first night drive yesterday which has opened another can of worms. And my first roof down drive. I was scared that it would never go back up again lol. Roof is ok but lights not . Took me awhile to work out where the lights were.  So the switch I guess on dash is causing the side lights now not to turn off? Also I can not get main beam to stay on, which I guess means needs another arm ? What do you think and where can I get the parts from. Regards and good day to you all

First thing Since you are talking high beams, then that is usually a staks issue as they will flash but not stay on when the head light is on.

Marker lights that stay on even with the key out and the switch off, is usually the switch.

Best thing is to replace the stalk.  And Relay your head lights to remove the hi-current load off the switch.

You won't believe how much brighter they can be.

Here is a thread I started, and I have 2 versions of the relay, one with two relays One for hi, and one for low, but at the bottom I have my EVIL schematic that has 3 relays so that you can turn on all the elements in your lamps and have hi-low at same time.  muahahahahahah….

You can usually buy the 2 headlight kit on ebay, just be sure that you buy one with ceramic sockets for the head light.


another fix,  How to have your headlights go out when you remove the key so you never have a dead battery basically you are moving the live battery feed to the headlight switch to a switched circuit, that is one that is off with the key out.

Thanks for info but all solved. Got the dash panel out, well nearly all the screw fixing points were broken all ready. Any way got back of switch out and tried several times in my hand, I could feel not going back to third click. So looked on eBay for part, by the time I found it. I could here something rattling so shook it hard and a piece of plastic fell out. Saved 10 pound as now it works. Three positions get a click. Lights work.  Same with head light stick got the top and bottom surround plastic off which was also broken, not by me. Then looked on eBay and by the time I finished was working again.  I had put some 98% alcohol  behind stick and it worked again then a few drops of oil where white bit plastic clicks in place. Now the white plastic bit stays when I click main beam on. Yippee

Now onto the door handle. I don't think this is ping to fix itself even if I look long and hard at it or spend more time on ebay. I can't open passenger door. New thread lol
