IVe got to finish this one off- it owes me so much fun!!
Ive got yamaha r1 bike ca4bson a fully rebuilt abf botom end, and kr head.
I NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN TUNE BIKE CARBS ON A ROLLING ROAD FOR A DECENT PRICE!!
ive contacted a few places but they're like- if they were twin Weber not a problem, but bike carbs- no!
Also need help with the throttle cable- ive gotcable attatched to carbs no problem and had to bodge to the foot pedal for now (any suggstions for decent
Way of attatching to foot pedal welcome).. anyway main issue is that the pedal travel is really short! Don't see any way around this as it's determined by the
Travel on the carbs??? Someone must be able to help, enough people have done the same conversion but I've searched and searched and n3ver seen this topic come up anywhere ???
The throttle on carbs doesn't return quickly so it needs some kind of spring or something to force the throttle closed when releasing foot off the pedal???
Then i need adviceon somewhere that's good at setting up bike carbs
Ive broken my bloody heel, and can't touch my foot on the ground for next 6 weeks… can someone recommend a reasonably priced mechanic that can help me out here.. cars not mot'd so somewhere as close to brighton/ newhaven as possible please… I'll have to trailer it there…
Any advice on how to solve thes problems, people to quiz, mechanics to do work please as I'm stuck , can't walk and need this sorted
Cheers.

I've got bike carbs on my teeny tiny 1400 16v DOHC, they're lairy and make a great noise under full throttle
Can't help with the tuner unfortunately, unless you fancy coming to Cornwall?
You will need some sort of return spring probably. Bike carbs are closed manually by the throttle lever so although they are sprung to close, it's not a 'snap' close like a 'normal' carb set up. Where you've connected the throttle cable at the moment, you should see another hole. That's for the return cable. On mine I've attached a sort piece of cable with a nipple to it and then added a spring and attached it to a rocker cover stud. This helps 'pull' it closed.
For a pedal block, I've used one of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sytec-Alloy-Twin-Cable-Throttle-Pedal-Block-Allen-Key-TLK008M-/232283111358?hash=item361526ffbe
Seems to work ok so far (about 300 miles), big bolt through the loop in the peddle and then clamp onto the block.
Yup peddle travel is limited by the size of the wheel on the carbs. You can either make a larger one, I have heard of people doing this method.
The other way is to move the pivot point of the accelerator pedal or move the point at which the cable attached to the pedal. I moved mine down a bit and it seemed to add some more travel.
After mine had been for tuning, the turners did say I was getting about half throttle and he'd adjusted the linkage. As such I ended up with a pretty much normal throttle travel. Once you find a tuner they might be able to help.
Hope that helps a bit
