The boot lock is the same as the door locks.

It does come apart in the same way. It's a bit trickier but it can be done.

Are you re-newing the wafers/pins to match the ignition or are you re-newing it all?

These might help.

I matched all the other locks to the ignition key.

There is another more ghetto method. PM for details.

The problem I usually hear of is that you have 3-4 keys for your car…..

As the folks replace the door handles without changing the lock cylinders and well then you have 2 keys..When the other handle breaks you change it and have 3 keys…change the boot, and you have 4 keys…..

Re-keying them to match the ignition switch is the easiest way, as then you won't need a spare key for the lock on the glove box as well and one key operates all 4 locks, as it is easiest to rekey the handles and boot as well as glove box then removing the steering wheel, all teh bling bling to get the Upper bearing mount off, then drill it….. (oh and you will want to replace the ignition switch as you are in there.).  Just saying that it is easier to do the other handles and have but one key, than to swap out the wafers or (pins?) to match them all.  Even a Locksmith will swap all the wafers to match your ignition key..

To remove the ignition barrel you have to drill the latch pin at a specific location to free the barrel to the upper steering bearing mount…

To remove the switch/barrel you have to be in the suspension pages of the Bentley or Haynes.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

I think Briano has successfully found the advice for the removal of the ignition barrel.

I knew I'd seen it somewhere!
