1989 Clipper carburettor

Hi folks,
I'm a new member and this is my first post.

I'm trying to restart a project I started many years ago but abandoned for various reasons. I have a 1989 Clipper (cabriolet) 1.8 and has a carburettor rather than fuel injection.  When I bought the car itwas running but it needed the cylinder head gasket replaced, which we did.  The car would not start again. There was a strange buzz coming from the distributor so I replaced it but it made no difference, the new distributor buzzed the same as the old one.

Several years later I was told that while the head gasket was being done, someone messed about with the relays. I have looks at various pictures and manuals of fuse boxes but they seem to vary.

So my hope is that someone with the same model coul please share a picture of your fuse box showing the relays and hopefully I can get my project off the ground and back on the road.
       Thanks in advance

I'll try and attach a picture of my own fuse box

Sorry I have no pic but I'm sure that a relay wouldn't cause this. Check you are getting 12v to terminal 15 of your coil (black wire) with ignition on. Check for 12v on the black wire at the ignition module. Check for ground at the module (brown wire). Look for damaged wiring, bad connectors from the module to the distributor. The ignition module itself may be bad.

Noun - Car

When the steering wheel was first put into use in automobiles, it was called the whip. The term has now been generalised to classify any automobile.

I agree, I think the relays are a red herring.

www.cabby-info.com has the relays in the fuse box with numbers.  it is in the electrical, then relays/fuxe panel link.

(it has good pictures).

Dizzy's buzz if the cap isn't clipped on correctly….
I would check the firing order of the wires as well as the 0 Time . (static timing to make sure it is ready to fire…

Cabby-info in the ignition section has pictures of static timing in the menu drop down on the right.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?
