Piping for sill & arch extensions “clipper kit”

These are fun aren’t they?
Any tips on fitting them?

Not that I recall, they are held inplace by the fitment of the arch to the fender.

If these are silicone replacement ones instead of the hard plastic OEM ones.

You need to rub down with bit of sand paper the inside lip and apply a dab or 2 of glue.
The long ones for the cill are worse you’ll need to rub down the flat area that goes against the cover then apply contact adhesive to stick it.

Just as I thought - an absolute mission to get right.

I presume getting the piping in the right kind of plastic is not an option?

I can’t see that this is going to work satisfactorily….

A massive disappointment that this company sell this stuff - in my opinion it’s not fit for purpose

I’ve done a few of these now.
So it’s not bad.
They need to be applied the body kit first.
Then onto the car.

You’ll find they might’ve just be a little over long so a sharp blade to nip the end off.

I have also found that by getting them warm they tend to be able to be bent a tad easier.

These are after market so are made from soft silicone as opposed to the OEM ones that are harder.
These flop all over the place so need either a double sided tape or glue to affix them on to the kit before installing.
It’s a pig of a job tbh.

I would use double sided tape....

The material is so non porous and slidey nothing adheres to it.
I key the surface areas before trying to fit them.

I think originally I was told they were double sided tape.
They look really good in the packet lol.

The originals are a hardish plastic with DS tape, because they are a hard plastic they slide down against the body work and into place. This stuff doesn’t slide, rather, it picks up on the paintwork, the trims are quite tight into the clips. Also, it’s hard to get nice and even because it’s so floppy.

It’s just very disappointing.

Also, it’s sold as individual bits so there’s 6 in a set, two long sill bits and 4 shorter arch bits…. why not supply in a roll enough to do a car?

I feel cheated because it’s not the same material, and ripped off by the way it was sold…

It’s a bit like the repro bumpers I bought from Vw heritage, they are an absolute joke as well
