Yes I got a green tinted screen fitted last year and lot of windscreen places kept telling me I should have a clear screen with a green tint on long the top, the screen which I had to chance due to a big stone chip was the original VW screen and it was green all over....

maybe they don't manufacture green screens any more
the one I have is green with a black/blue sunstrip
but I'm happy with clear I guess
unless theres a secondhand screen out there for me
ebay mk1 parts are getting daft money

You can still get new green tinted screens, lots of places I phoned could get them it just took a little longer.

If you're going for green then I'd recommend the full green tint.
Like the glass fitted to the GTI, if it's original.
If secondhand the glass will state 'Tinted' in the corner where you can see the British Standards marking.

Personally I'd not buy a screen with a Green, brown, blue top band as I find them annoying especially at night.

The original green tinted glass was available as factory extra back 80's on some other models.  The feature being it reflected the heat much like the modern dark glass does today but it always looked a darn sight cooler to the eye! 😉 👍🏼

My white 1988 Gti cabriolet came with a full green tinted glass and I believe that was standard issue…

I think all Gti and all cabriolets cars came with a tinted glass and it was basic tintop cars which had no tint…..?
