Mk1 questions from Australia

Post

Hi all from Australia,

I am chasing caliper carriers to upgrade to 256mm brakes on my 1976  mk1 LS golf. does anyone know where i can source the carriers part number 853 615 125? sadly mk1 parts are very thin on the ground in Australia

Any help  to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi redjohnlx

Welcome to the club first of all.

There are a few websites around that should be able to help you out, the only issue maybe shipping to australia

You could try:
http://www.vwheritage.com
https://www.classic-vw.co.uk/

to start off with and see how you get on?

Also any pics of the car?

I think those carriers are 16v scirrocco parts, quite difficult to source here, sometimes appear on uk ebay, but not cheap..

Thanks for the lead,

I have already made an order from vw heritage and am in the process of making another haha, they make it so easy to spend money!!!!

After many hours of googling i found a place in the US selling the carriers and ordered a pair, not cheap but cheaper than alternative brake upgrades.

this is the little nugget

Aside from some rust in the passanger front floor pan she is pretty straight. rust repair panels are on their way. and a million other things.

Other issue i have is i am trying to identify the trim code for the tan vinyl interior (the trim sticker is missing in action :( ). it has front seats from a 4 door and trying to find 3 door ones it proving tricky. really want to keep the tan interior

this is the tan colour im after, anyone know its name / code?

Thanks for the help!

Welcome along mate,

Erm those seats look like 3 door to me as they have the lever on the side of the seats to tip them forward to get into the back of the car.

If they ain't tipping then the wire inside the seat may be broken or come off the lever.

Nice little Nugget
