Mk1 golf not starting

Hi i have a 1983 mk1 golf gti and the radiator blew over last xmas.
Managed to get a new rad and fit it this year in june. Prob is ive suddenly got no spark. Changed the coil and no luck. If i directly link the coil to the battery and then check for spark i can get a spark. No idea anyone know of a good mobile mechanic who knows vws in the east london area

Anything else not working, horn for example?

Horn is diconnected at present

Indicators then, do they work? When you say you have tested the coil on a battery how exactly did you do it? I'm assuming that you have just put a live to the plus/15 terminal on your coil.

Indicators work yes, and coil tested as you said. Car has been sat in garage since it was last started.

I was thinking it may be a problem with the ignition switch but if everything else is working then it can't be that. I can only guess that you have a bad connection on the white plug on the back of your fuse box or a broken wire.
