Newbie
Lost /stolen keys
It's a 1988 with DX engine 1.8
My ignition barrel says KLS83 on it
Can I get a key to fit ?
If so can you please advise best place
Or does anyone have a key that they can duplicate and sell to me ?

Why, because you can take the door handle or trunk lock off and run it to a lock smith and they can make a new key for it which is easier than trying to take the ignition lock out.
I don't think that is the key number as it is usually stamped on the Cylinder itself.
The key numbers start with the two letters which are the key blank to be used followed by 4 numbers, as on my Cabriolet key fob it starts AH XYZX where xyzx are numbers and AH is the key blank.

Have tried talking to VW?
There is a tag with the key number on it when the car was new and you can get the key cut from the number.
Not sure but is it printed on any of the manuals etc which come with the car.
