Horn Issues

Post

Evening everyone,

So I’ve recently been using my Mk1 more often than usual due to nice weather, I’ve found out that I’ve got an issue with the horn. As I go over speed bumps or hit a pot hole my horn goes off. At 1st I thought it was the connector touch the stalk screws but I put some insulation tape around it but it didn’t help. The horn still goes off when I hit a bump or pot hole, can anyone help me resolve this issue??

Thanks in advance

Check the horn connections and if it bounced on the bracket or is loose then you have the possibility that it is grounding out and honking.

The horn has 12V to it full time on the blue/yellow wire, and the ground is switched via the button on the stalk via the steering rack and a ground wire through a relay.

typical horn circuit.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
