High beam constantly on

Hey

As I was taking the instrument panel out to fit new light bulbs, my connection on the wiper stalk was poor so the washer jet wouldn't work. I bent the stalk in slightly to get a better connection. However, the indicator stalk I am unable to push up to use the high beam.

Having said this whenever I switch the lights on the high beams come on automatically (permanently on) …

I took out the plugs for the indicator and wiper stalk …..the high beams are still on……arghhhhhhhhhh

Anyone with an pointers?

Also should point out I can no longer push forward the indicator beam? Could I have possible broken something on the indicator stalk? I feel the connection on the stalks somewhere are touching hence the beam but not sure where?

You pull the stork towards you again to switch high beam off, then pull it towards you to switch them back on. You don't push the stork away to switch them off… You should heara click when switching them on and off.

Apologies I was slightly confused when thinking how it worked. Normally comes back to me automatically. You're 💯 correct. But the click doesn't happen?….

Additionally when I pulled the plug of of the indicator stalk and wiper stalk the beams were still on….

If you pull the plug and the lamps are still lit,  Yall hve a wire short.

Well guys I managed to fix it with the assistance of rubjonny and needless to say it's quite embarrassing what the actual issue was but all it was the indicator hook needed to be in the switch (I didn't hook it in!!!)


Thanks for all your replies. I hope going forward if anyone is in my predicament that this thread shows the importance of that hook on the indicator stalk!!!!!

Now I need to look at installing the fuel sender unit - I've come across Briano1234 instructions will be using that for guidance!
