8V K-Jet - fuel mixture screw dropped out

Howdy folks,

I'm desperately trying to get my MK1 GTI Campaign 1.8 DX back on the road.

On my Bosch K-Jet fuel distributor my fuel mixture screw fell out - when putting it back in I got it got cross threaded and wouldn't turn and locked.

I've bought another fuel distributor and the fuel mixture screw has fallen out again. I've taken it off the vehicle and have been fiddling for hours with my fingers trying to get to screw back in underneath.

Is there any way/trick of undoing the side screws, to gain access and screw the mixture screw in straight?

i tried with a flathead screwdriver and couldn't get the two screws to budge.

Thanks, much appreciated

It does come apart, pretty sure there are nuts on the top side of those screws, maybe have a go at those first after getting some wd40 on it.
Trick for getting the mixture roughly right is to loosen one on the injector outlets from the metering head and turn the screw clockwise until fuel just starts to come through. Or anticlockwise if its coming through a lot. You'll need to take the fuel pump relay out and use a jumper so you can run the pump without ignition on. You can swap another relay in so that the pump runs when ignition is on but I can't remember which relay you can use.
