Heater Fan Removal. Through the top or the bottom?

Post

Bearings on my heater fan have started to get stiff and squeaky so I've attempted to remove the motor through the scuttle in the engine bay but can't quite get it! I've done a search online and on here and read many posts about people saying they've done and the odd link to a how to but the links are dead and I can't find anywhere that shows me how it's done.
So, will it come out through the engine bay or have I spent the last hour and 20 minutes swearing for nothing? If so can anyone point me to a link that shows how?
Thanks.

With air or without?

Either way they insert from the Bay, and the Rain tray.  You have to remove the Air Plenum on the A/C and move it to the left (as you are looking at it.).  The Same for the Motor.

I have heard of folks removing the non-a/c out the same way but having to twist it side ways.

I have also heard of them removing it out the bottom after disconnecting the Heater core, (Pinch Pliers on the hoses in the bay limit drippage.  Disconnecting the cables, and out the bottom.

www.cabby-info.com has a how to on the a/c ones.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Thanks for the reply Briano1234 . I had a read of that link but it doesn't bear much ressemblance to mine. I did do another online search though and found this.

Gonna give it a go tomorrow night, probably continue the swearing for another hour because I did try to seperate my housing but stopped because I thought I was going to break it.

Yes it looks like the US spec arrangement is a little different!
For Air Con in the UK most mk1's have a winder in the drivers door for cracking the window :)
Some flash cars have electric switches !

Do it once and do it right! ok, we've identified the problem, lets not make it worse by guessing……… Identifying the sympton is not the same as understanding the cause :)
