Fuel leaking

Hi all, I have a 1.8 GTI cabriolet 1991, which has started leaking near the drivers side rear wheel. There is a small rubber hose which has got a split in it. Have been reading that this is being caused due to the new fuel specifications and pipes get eaten through. I wanted to know that what are club members using for their golf which are suitable to use. Any links attached would be greatly appreciated. This is like the 3rd time in 2 yrs and want to get it sorted once and for all. Thanks in advance.

Dont mean to be rude… but WTH put another old bit of fuel line on?  also keep away from ebay fuel lines… get proper traceable fuel lines from reputable out let..

Rubber Fuel Hose.

Ask nicci21paul to measure the OD and ID of the cut hose, then order a section.

Fuel pipe needed

Hi Kenneth, its I think 12mm and 9 mm on the other side, if I was to put a 12mm pipe on both ends ethanol proof, and proper use fuel clips would this be ok. As I don't want fuel leaking due to wrong diameter pipe used on the smaller pipe.

You can buy a new hose here or vw heritage, it's not worth the risk with 2nd hand fuel hose when it comes to petrol.

I believe the hose goes from 11mm down to 9mm so off the shelf fuel 1 size fuel hose will not work.

Pretty sure 10mm will fit.. most hoses have a bit of give ..when warmed up in boiling water. so would stretch to 12mm ,and definite close on 9mm But if the hose mark has identified from vwheritage is correct then its your choice.

As regards to rubbers and o rings they all have shelf lifes, and pretty much everything oem on golf mk3 is past use by date…so mk1 its even more so.  At the unit ( Kennysclassiccars.co.uk) ive found 2 boxes of o rings all are unused but brittle..and unusable, these are rubber and nitrile..  and under 10yrs old.. which is why I say make sure hose comes from reputable retailers.
