I'm in the process of installing a new loom in to the car and found this under the car, approximately centre of engine/sump.
All I've done in the engine compartment is remove the old loom and install the new one, no mechanical stuff.
A MK2 dash has gone in as well be this was under the car.
Any thoughts? A5365640-71B1-4DB5-9495-6D95E45D61C0.jpeg   EC5C9C2C-9B78-40B4-BB3F-FC7B4169E6F9.jpeg

Kind of reminds me of the heater vacuum distributor spring that applies pressure to the steel back of the rubber wiper.

Could you explain where you mean as I'm not familiar with that part.
I've just thought, I took the windscreen wiper motor and mechanism out to replace with a MK2, could it be from there?

When things like this happen to me, I put them in my 'I didn't really need that' box.

And if it turns out I really did need it, it will make itself known.

LOL as long as it's not engine mounts or wheel nuts.

I've got a few clips etc which I've found and stuffed in my ashtray just in case I do find where they are meant to go… keep to safe and I'm sure one day you will work out what it came from or perhaps someone lost a spring of something else in the car years ago…

Isn't that the early Beetles or Karmann Ghia type..

The part that is white on the right is what I was referring to. it is inside of the unit to apply pressure between the white outer case and the inner vacuum diverter rubber bit

You guys completely amaze me!

When I installed the MK2 dash the MK1 heater control wouldn't fit so I purchased a MK2 unit (as per your image) and installed that.

The only other classic on the drive recently has been the wife!

Ah the old fasten a aftermarket oil cooler to the Radiator
installation kit…

I just used wire ties, and foam covered washers when I did my external oil cooler then foam on the front Valance supports.

Worked just a well, and easy to replace, but I haven't had any issues and it's been installed since 2008
