Exhaust manifold removal

Post

Hi guys, I'm having trouble getting the exhaust manifold off.
I have a 88' 1.8 8v cab, and In trying to change the exhaust system. I've managed to remove all nuts except one, seems like the inlet has to be removed. Is thus correct?

I have seen that the last bolt or nut is iron binding because of the weight of the object is like a lock washer effect.
Some times if you take the strain off the connection as in using a jack to place up pressure on the exhaust, will release the iron bind.

When I have taken the enhausts off of my Cabbies I had one epic fail, and two positive.
The fail broke 3 studs from torque shear when I used a 6pt socket and a breaker bar.

The success was soaking them with a PB-Blaster for 3 days prior 2 days prior 1 day prior, 1 hour prior and then 20 minutes. I started the engine for 2 minutes to expand the metals.

They all came off with the proper use of a 6pt 12mm short socket, a wobble extension and a Air impact wrench.
I had 3 studs back out on one of the 2 cabbies, and I went back with Stainless Steel Hex Drive Studs, easy to install and tighten, I also used never-seize on all nuts studs and what-nots.

When I installed a header on one of them I had to grind the header to clear the intake.  So I suppose you could be having that sort of issue where you will need to loosen your manifold to get clearance.
