Help Please

Hi all, I have done a full engine strip (dx 1.8 8v)over the past days out of my mk1 gti 88. I am planning on upgrading some elements but need a little advice before I go down a road and cant turn back. In essence I want some better performance so was thinking of the following: New camshaft and pulley - Any ideas and what am I going to get extra. Is it worth it? I am going to get engine ported also. Is it possible to install bigger pistons? I was thinking about getting rid of the K Jet and installing carbs. Will I need to replace the head so that the inlet and exhaust are on opposites. What's recommended Webers or bike? Last question…….How do I remove the valves. These aren't what I am used to as seems springs etc are all enclosed. Any help on this would be very much appreciated. you can throw thousands at an 8v to get the same power as a standard 16v, my advise is rebuild a 2.0 16v engine and fit that instead

I did think of this. I have a v5 sat in the garage that I was going to put in but bottled it to be honest due to the work.

Will a 2.0 16v drop in or what other stuff do I need to do?

2 ltr 16v is quite easy to fit, will bolt up to the existing dx g/box if required to and the dx engine mount will bolt on and that's the engine bolted in.

Thanks for the advice which I am going to look in to.

Its more the loom and ecu element that worries me. Should I be worried?
