DX Engine Block - Cracked and bolt holes wont torque

Afternoon all

My DX Engine Block is cracked and bolt holes wont torque so….

I need a new engine block for my 1989 DX GTI Cabby… any ideas where to find one or, which blocks from other VW engines will work please????

I think the Ex is the same block, just different head. Should be plenty around, they don't normally pop.
