Dipstick funnel

A bit of advice needed please. I have just bought a new dipstick funnel for my Mk1 cabriolet. It’s a 1.8 EX carburettor engine. The old one was crusty and taped up with some sort of resin tape that is rock hard. Comparing the the old with the new, the old one is shorter at 54mm and the new is longer at 72mm. I suspect the old one broke at some point and was taped together and that’s why it’s shorter. Can anyone confirm this as I don’t want an incorrect oil level reading.
