Clutch Cable and Idling Question.

Post

Hi All,

The other day I removed the airbox and fitted it back in as the boots for the carb were abit lose.

As I put it back I couldn't remember if the clutch cable was suppose to be under or over the airbox. As I kept it under everytime I would change gear there was a knocking noise im guessing the clutch cable was knocking on the air filter.

So I now have it above the air filter box, can someone confirm if that's the correct place for it albeit there isn't a knocking noise

now. IMG_20191211_161945.jpg

Also for the idling when the vehicle is stationary is this correct…

I'm sure it is, but would be a great piece of mind.

Many thanks in advance

Hi.
My clutch cable runs over the box so I'd say yes it's the correct route. The revs look about right to me . There is a video on YouTube showing how to set them up correctly

Mine goes over, if not it makes the air box end bang on the under side of the bonnet.
1.6 8v EZ carb engine should be 900rpm. Think other q.6 & 1.8 8v carbs should be 750-850rpm.

manual 750-800
Auto 950

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

cable should go under the airbox, not that it makes that much difference as long as its routed nicely.

it certainly isnt designed to stop the airbox hitting the bonnet, if that happens then your airbox isnt fixed on properly. after all, LHD models dont have any clutch cable on that side to hold it down :P
