Chrome Side Trims

I know this is probably really simple but I can't find any info anywhere so thought I'd ask on here..

My car is in the body shop getting the paintwork done and I have purchased new chrome side and sill trims to fit once it comes back..

When fitting the new trim do the clips push into the body first and then the trim clips on afterwards or do you put the clips in the trim and then push the whole trim into place?

The reason I'm asking is that the clips are fairly stiff and I don't want to bend or damage the side trims when fitting them..

Thanks in advance

Pete

Are your clips like this?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/?iid=391216810960&&&adgroupid=39910336457&rlsatarget=pla-300453723498&abcId=1088886&adtype=pla&merchantid=9954874&poi=&googleloc=9045664&device=c&campaignid=805661516&crdt=0&chn=ps

If so push the clip in the hole in the car then push the pin in to lock it in place, then fit the trim along the sides. I sort of clip the trim in at the top and pushed it down, they are metal so pretty tough.

Those are for the upper or mid door.
The bottom needs red ones that are slightly larger that is the 5 foot chrome strip at the bottom of the door on a non-clipper-kitted mk1.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.
