Cabby Steering Boss

I bought a Mk2 steering boss after reading the comments on here to fit my new wheel.
When I went to fit the wheel it would seem the spline on the steering column is too small. Would i be able to fit the wheel with a spline adaptor I have seen on most cabriolets? Also are these still available to buy?

Car is an 89 plate.

yes it should also have a spring under it instead of the plastic spacer tube

sporttrucker thankfully the spring is still there. seems as though the previous owner went to a lot of trouble to bodge the previous wheel on to the car.
